The development of the DIGITRAIN project in Italy has allowed for the identification of significant insights regarding access to and use of digital skills among adults with low qualifications. Through the partner EduTech Italy, a contextual analysis has been conducted in various regions, highlighting cultural, educational, and social factors that affect digital literacy.
One of the main findings has been the need to adapt content to multilingual realities and contexts where learning does not always take place in formal settings. In particular, migrant adults and women over 50 represent groups with strong motivation but face persistent structural barriers.
Additionally, the research in Italy has revealed the importance of community digital mediation: spaces such as libraries, neighborhood associations, and civic centers play a fundamental role in facilitating access to training and technological devices.
These lessons are being incorporated into DIGITRAIN’s pedagogical design, reinforcing our approach based on personalization and the use of accessible resources. Furthermore, they contribute to the creation of training models that can be transferred to other European countries facing similar challenges.
